You need to be sure that you get the right measurements for you door so that it will be the perfect size for your garage. The measurements you need to take will depend on whether you are ordering an insulated roller door or a single skin roller door. Please visit our measuring page for full details.

Can roller doors be automatic?

Our roller garage doors are available with remote control access and a fully automated action. If you’re looking for automatic garage doors, roller doors are one of the most popular options.

How quickly can you install my new garage door?

We also endeavour to ensure that we can install your new garage door as soon as possible. However, all of the doors that we offer are made to measure so we are dependent on the manufacturer – as such we are not able to give a definite date until we know that the doors have been created.

Can a roller garage door be installed outside the garage?

Yes, this is possible, providing attention is paid to the specifications of the door used. It’s a common practice in garages where there’s limited headroom. A roller door fitted externally will always require a full hood cover to protect the mechanism, curtain barrel and motor, but it also provides additional safety for users.

What headroom is required for a roller garage door?

There are two types of roller doors in the UK – single skin sheet steel and double skinned aluminium foam-filled slats. For a basic single skin steel roller door, the typical headroom requirement is around 430mm or more as the height of the door increases. For a double skinned style door, the required headroom is 300mm. But with any roller door, there will also be a section at the bottom of the curtain, so you’ll need around 50mm more to allow full clearance.

What makes a good roller door?

When choosing a roller door, you’ll need to consider the quality of the internal components as this makes a huge difference to the performance of the door and its durability. We recommend roller doors with aluminium slats which deliver strength, and insulated steel slats which are slightly larger widths if you require that for your door. It should also be CE marked to conform with European regulations. We work with manufacturers that have been carefully chosen for quality and reliability, so you can be confident of the safety and performance they provide.

How long are your doors guaranteed for?

Wessex Garage Doors provide a one-year installation warranty on all the doors we supply and install, which is effective from the date of installation and is in addition to the manufacturers’ terms and conditions. For more information, please contact our team.
